PDX’s Influence on the Local Economy and how Passenger Growth is Driving Capital Projects

Please join us July 13th for an exciting program on PDX’s Influence on the Local Economy and how Passenger Growth is Driving Capital Projects. Portland International Airport (PDX) processed 18 million passengers in 2016 and is expected to process 19 million this year.  This growth is driving a number of major construction projects at PDX.

The Port of Portland’s Director of Engineering, Tom Peterson, will be presenting. During his 31 years of tenure at the Port, he has been involved in a wide variety of projects supporting the Ports trade mission.  As the Port’s Engineering Director, Tom is responsible for the Engineering department that includes a multi-disciplined engineering staff of 85 and overall responsibility for management of capital construction.

The planning and construction of these projects started in 2015 and will continue to at least 2020. They represent a $2 billion dollar investment in the airport. Collectively known as PDXNext, this suite of major airport improvement projects will continue providing awarding-winning comfort and convenience for travelers, operational efficiency, safety and security.

PDX NEXT projects include;

  • New Shops and Restaurants (Now-November 2017)
  • Terminal Balancing, Concourse E Extension, Airline Relocations (Now-2020)
  • Terminal Core Redevelopment (Summer 2015-On-Going)
